Promoting Wine Opportunities in Northern Italy

During 23-25 March, we continued the promotion of Hong Kong's role as an international hub for wine and liquor trade in the Piedmont region of Asti, Cuneo and Alba - one of Italy's major wine regions known far beyond its borders. We were received by the mayors of Cuneo, Asti, Alba and Grinzane to discuss how we can further strengthen trade between Hong Kong and these places.

We met with the leading wine consortiums and updated them on the business opportunities Hong Kong could offer to them - not only for their wine business but also spirits such as grappa. Hong Kong has installed a very favourable customs duties regime for spirits above 30% in October 2024.

During our trip, Confindustria Cuneo organised a business seminar where we updated senior executives from various sectors on Hong Kong's role as an ideal business location for entrepreneurs wishing to explore the Hong Kong, mainland Chinese and neighbouring markets.

We also took the opportunity to meet with the Grand Master of the Order of Knights of the Truffle and Wines of Alba. The auction of Alba truffles in Hong Kong is one of the largest in its kind.
