On 10 May, over 7,000 spectators and paddlers gathered in Antwerp for the 11th Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival, one of the city's most popular annual events. Sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Brussels (HKETO, Brussels), the festival featured spirited races from 30 teams and vibrant cultural celebrations. Organised by Rotary Antwerp International and Rotary Antwerp West, the event highlighted the strong ties between Hong Kong and Belgium. At the opening ceremony, Deputy Representative of HKETO, Brussels, Grace Li invited guests to explore Hong Kong, calling it 'a city brimming with life, colour, and opportunity.'
Proceeds supported local and global charities, including Thomas Houses and Mercy Ships, adding a meaningful dimension to the festivities.
